The Majid Boustany Research Scholarship is awarded on an annual basis to a postgraduate student of art history, archaeology or museum studies, with no restriction on time periods or geographical areas. This €10,000 scholarship is funded by the Majid Boustany Fund within the Musée du Louvre Endowment Fund and is established as an award in perpetuity. The first scholarship will be awarded in 2024.

Candidates can apply from a wide range of graduate schools and universities in France: École du Louvre, Sorbonne University (Paris I), Paris-Nanterre University, EPHE (École Pratique des Hautes Études), Paris-Sorbonne University (Paris IV), Sorbonne Nouvelle University, EHESS (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales), École Nationale des Chartes, Lille University, Strasbourg University, Bordeaux Montaigne University, Poitiers University, Aix-Marseille University and Tours University.

Successful applicants will be selected by a committee chaired by the Directeur des Études Muséales et de l’Appui à la Recherche in charge of the Dominique-Vivant Denon Centre.

More information and details of how to apply are available on the Dominique-Vivant Denon Centre website.

The commitment made by Majid Boustany allows the museum to guarantee the long-term funding of two valuable initiatives for our institution in a field that is particularly close to my heart, research in art history and the transmission of knowledge.

Laurence des Cars, President/Director of the Musée du Louvre

By establishing this new research scholarship in the Louvre, I wish to provide, in perpetuity, a research grant for students preparing a doctoral thesis on the major fields of art associated with the Musée du Louvre.

Majid Boustany
